Bug Bites:
Hosta

This quilt was an assessment piece for my London City & Guilds Patchwork and Quilting Certificate course, completed in December 2005. The quilt was inspired by a photo of an insect hole
on a hosta leaf from my garden.

The leaf background is Shibori dyed cotton, the binding is red discharged fabric. The Inkodye hosta prints were enlarged and machine appliquéd with decorative stitching. Hand stitching, French knots, and pieces of silk were added as embellishments. Contour machine quilting with decorative stitches completed "Bug Bites: Hosta" which measures 68" by 28".
