September
Hydrangea

In September I am spell bound by the many stunning shades of my garden hydrangeas. The transformation is wondrous! Ivory blooms turn into lovely aging shades of pinks and greens. Rusts are thrown into the mix and I end up with coppery beauties!

"September Hydrangea" was created to capture a day in that beautiful transformation process. The composition is make with natural rust dyed silk, overlaid with hydrangea bloom transfers, cotton hand dyed and discharged fabric is added to the mix. Patinated copper leaves and name plate adds a touch to the transformation. Free motion machine quilting completes this 27" by 44" contemporary quilt.
