Hope signs of Spring are around the corner in your neck of the woods. We had a few snow days but everything here in southern PA was manageable. The landscape with beautiful snow covered evergreens looked like a picture postcard. Check the website for "What's New" for the latest newsletter.

Zipper - my biggest achievement so far this year was that of house training our now 16 week old miniature long haired Dachshund. So now do we have a life yet?!

Quilts and things. I've had quilts exhibited at Mancuso's Mid-Atlantic Quilt Extravaganza and Quilt Fest of New Jersey in the past weeks, hope some of you were able to view them. I was happy to hear that two of my quilts have been juried into smaller art quilt exhibitions "She Made Her Mark" and "Sacred Threads" more on times and locations closer to exhibition dates.

Soldiers Angels
You must have seen Lee and Bob Woodruff (ABC news anchor, wounded in Irac) in their TV specials, interviews, etc. Did you notice the quilt Lee was holding in one interview and how she mentioned that while flying to US, Bob had a quilt/blanket wrapping around him. These are the much cherished quilts that our wounded soldiers need! Next month I hope to have a collage of some of the donated quilts.
Ok the latest on making quick serged quilts for the wounded and ill soldiers. I'm happy to report that a number of you have answered my call to help with this project! I've had inquires for using the pattern as a guild and church project, requests to make quilts to send directly to soldiers, our lovely Canadian friends are helping...it has truly been heartwarming, I can't thank you enough!! I think we got off to a good start with at least five quilts, besides mine, being made and shipped already. Unfortunately it's an on going project so anyone who wants to join in, just request a pattern. Here is the URL for Soldiers Angels the organization that we are donating
http://www.soldiersangels.org
Here's the deal! I will provide FREE the pattern for my BJ's Quick Lap/Crib Serged Quilt, value $10, if you will make and ship one quilt to the Soldiers Angels organization. Here's the pattern
http://piecemaking.com/pattern_quicklap.shtml
I see this as a win-win proposition, you get the pattern free, it only takes one hour to make with a total of 4 1/2 yards fabric, flannel or fleece would be wonderful, I'm sure you have that much in your stash or it's all on sale now. So for one hour and the price of shipping, a wounded soldier will have a comfy treasure, what a small price!
Just e-mail me, I'll tell you where to download the pattern to get started and I'll provide details of where to ship the complete quilt. Thanks for considering it!
That's it for now. HAPPY STITCHING!
